Yasunaga linear compressors are used in various applications. Mainly small wastewater treatment plant manufacturers use the technology for aeration of wastewater and sludge. Due to the high degree of efficiency compressors are also used for primary air supply in fuel cells. In contrast to motor drives a permanent magnet armature between two electromagnets (current-carrying coils with iron core) in phase with the system frequency is moved back and forth for linear actuators. The armature itself is clamped between the two opposite membranes of the pump heads. By using neodymium magnetic material, the field strength and thus the efficiency of the linear actuator could be considerably increased. Simultaneously, the size was significantly reduced by increasing the power density.
